This is one of the neat things available in OS/2's internet access kit. You can get new software products and updates to existing products using this program. You need to be connected to the internet first. This tool will check IBM's internet server to retrieve a list of software available. You select what you want, then the program downloads the files from the internet and installs them straight into your computer. There is no need to find diskettes to contain the downloaded diskettes and install them separately!
Currently, this Retrieve Software Updates program is used only for the internet access kit products (ie., fixes to the OS/2 base system cannot be retrieved in this fashion). The original OS/2 Warp does not include WebExplorer and Archie out of the box. Many OS/2 users have acquired these two software just by using this Retrieve Software Updates facility.
