Downloading

The Java(tm) and HotJava(tm) products are currently in Beta development. The goal of the Alpha release is to demonstrate the concept of executable content, and enable WWW software developers to become familiar with the Java programming environment.There is also a Beta release of the Java Developers Kit (JDK), which provides the beta language, compiler, interpreter, APIs, an applet viewer, and a debugger.


Developer's Kit

1.0 Beta Java Developers Kit for SPARC Solaris, Windows NT, and Windows 95
The Java Developers Kit (JDK) lets you write applets that conform to the new, frozen Applet API. See the Java Developers Kit page for full details and downloading instructions.

1.0Alpha3 for Microsoft Windows NT and Windows 95
The 1.0Alpha3 release runs on Intel x86 machines with Windows NT 3.5 or Windows 95. It does not run on Windows 3.1 or 3.11.

1.0Alpha3 for Solaris
The 1.0Alpha3 release runs on Sun Solaris 2.3, 2.4 and 2.5 SPARC-based machines. It does not run on Solaris 1 (Sun OS 4.x), Solaris x86, or any non-Solaris platform.

the JDK 1.0 Beta release are available. The Java Developers Kit 1.0 Beta Source Release has details on downloading the full JDK 1.0 Beta release source code, plus information about porting the HotJava/Java technology to another platform.

Additional Platform Support

An in-house port is underway for MacOS 7.5. Internal testing has begun. The public availability of this port will be announced to our mailing lists. When ports to additional platforms are completed by others, their availability will also be announced.
