Singapore Internet Next Generation Advanced Research and Education
Network (SINGAREN)
SINGAREN is an advanced network for research & education, and for the testing
of leading-edge broadband technologies. Its initial start-up is jointly funded by the
Telecommunication Authority of Singapore (TAS) and the National
Science and Technology Board (NSTB), and its key objective is to support the
research and education (R&E) community, which includes all the tertiary institutes
and the R&D institutes in Singapore. SINGAREN operates as a virtual private
network over the Singapore ONE infrastructure, where each member in the R&E
community is expected to upgrade its own internal network and establish
broadband connectivity to SINGAREN.

Asia-Pacific Advanced Network Consortium
APAN is a non-profit international consortium established on 3 June 1997.
APAN is intended to be a high-performance network for research and
development on advanced applications and services.
APAN provides advanced networking environment for research community,
and promotes international collaboration.

Telematics for Research is a sector within the Telematics Applications
Programme to support the development and demonstration of innovative
applications to enhance European
collaborative research through deployment of telematics.

The Internet2 project, as it is known, is bringing focus, energy and
resources to the development of a new family of advanced applications to
meet emerging academic requirements in research, teaching and learning.
The largest part of the Internet2 team is the people at the over 100
member universities who are developing the advanced network applications and
engineering that form the foundation of Internet2s mission and goals. They
are working with organizations that have joined the Internet2 effort as
corporate partners and affiliate members.
Applications and engineering working groups have been formed to address
specific areas of Internet2
